Film actress Jaya Bachchan on Wednesday resigned as Chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Film Development Corporation, a post which had cost her the membership of Rajya Sabha in the wake of the office-of-profit controversy.

Her resignation has been accepted by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, official sources said.
