The letter written in broken Tamil said, "I will raze your house to the ground with bombs...Your office will be targeted using two-wheeler laden with explosives...In a few days, you and your residence will be finished."

The sender, who identified himself as C Mohan of 'Puratchi Puli Iyakkam' (Revolutionary Tigers Movement), alleged that Jayalalithaa was working against the Tamil community. The letter also had a telephone number and, on verification, it was found that it was registered in the name of C Mohan.

Police said investigations were on.

The AIADMK, which released a copy of the letter to the media, has complained the matter to the Home Secretary, Director General of Police and City Police Commissioner.

The carbon copy of the letter was received at Jayalalithaa's house.
