Sharp differences have surfaced in the NDA in Karnataka and Jharkhand where the JD(U) has threatened to contest the elections independently.

In Karnataka , the party has decided to contest 10 Lok Sabha and 95Assembly seats without any alliance with the BJP in view of its indifferent attitude on seat-sharing. In Jharkhand , the party has threatened to contest all 14 parliamentary seats on its own if the BJP does not agree to concede a few seats of its choice .
The BJP leadership is apparently of the view that the JD(U) does not wield much influence in both these states and, heeding the sentiment of its state units , has demonstrated its unwillingness to share any seats with the party.
According to a senior BJP leader ,any suggestion for seat-sharing in Karnataka has to be on a realistic assessment of strength .So far ,they had not received any such proposal , he said.
