JE claims nine more lives in eastern UP, toll 821

Nine more people succumbed to Japanese Encephalitis in Gorakhpur and adjoining districts, taking the toll in eastern Uttar Pradesh to 821 since the outbreak of the disease.

Nine more patients died in the last two days, Additional Director (Health) CBM Tripathi said on Monday.

He said a total of 3561 patients were admitted to the BRD medical college and hospitals of adjacent districts since the outbreak of the disease. As many as 312 patients, mostly children, are still under treatment.

Meanwhile, fogging and awareness campaigns in affected areas are continuing in full swing.
