JLNS win third consecutive title

JAWAHARLAL NEHRU School beat Maharaja Sawai Man Singh School, Jaipur in a tough fight to win the CBSE West Zone Under-19 Boys Hockey Tournament 2006 by a margin of 3-2. This is the school?s third consecutive victory in the tourney. Teams from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Daman, Diu, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhatttisgarh participated in it.

JAWAHARLAL NEHRU School beat Maharaja Sawai Man Singh School, Jaipur in a tough fight to win the CBSE West Zone Under-19 Boys Hockey Tournament 2006 by a margin of 3-2. This is the school’s third consecutive victory in the tourney.
Teams from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Daman, Diu, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhatttisgarh participated in it.

A fifteen-member squad including coach Anil Menon left for the Vivekanand Memorial Public School, Raisingnagar, Rajasthan on September 27.

JLNS beat DAV School, Kota by a margin of 6-1 in a warm-up match. Affan Yusuf struck twice in this outing. There was no looking back from then on with JNS routing Sainik School, Rewa by 5-0 with two goals coming from Salah Abbasi’s stick.

In the semifinal, Affan Yusuf worked on his magic once again and hit two goals in the team’s win over Subodh Public School, Jaipur (4-1).

However, JLNS faced tough competition in the final against Maharaja Sawai Man Singh School (MSJS), Jaipur. MSJS were leading by 2-1 at half time. But Affan Yusuf, Salah Abbasi and Akshit Arya showed tremendous skill to turn the tables and win the tourney by 3-2.
