A journalist whose body was found lying in his Patna home is suspected to have been poisoned to death. Virendra Kumar Singh, 35, who worked as a reporter in a Hindi daily published from Patna, was found dead in his rented house in the densely populated Mahendru area on Sunday. Police suspect that Singh could have been poisoned to death because they recovered a bottle of liquor and two glasses from the site. Three empty cups with remains of tea were also found. "Some parts of his body and nail have turned blue, indicating poison," the police said. Singh, a resident of Bankattha village in Siwan district, lived with a domestic help who told the police that the two men visited the house on Diwali night. The three men were seen drinking alcohol. Singh stepped out of the house for a few seconds to see them off and collapsed and died when he returned, he said. Police are waiting for the autopsy results to reveal the exact cause of death.
