Journalists invite Malakar for dinner

The Indian American teenager, who took part in American Idol, has been invited by the White House Correspondents’ Association for dinner.

Sanjaya Malakar, the recently dispatched American Idol contestant, has been invited for the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.

The 17-year-old singer, who was voted out of the show on Wednesday night after weeks of debate over his locks and singing style, will be the guest of People magazine at the event.

US film and actress Valerie Bertinelli, Tim Gunn from Bravo reality television programme ‘Project Runway’, Zac Efron of High School Musical, comedian Eddie Izzard and Robert F Kennedy Jr will also attend the event as the magazine’s guests.

The dinner will be organised at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night.

The White House Correspondents' Association is an organisation of journalists who cover the President of the United States. It works with the presidential administration on issues regarding coverage and logistics.
