Jubilant Organosys net up 131 per cent

Net sales of Jubilant Organosys increased by 41.4 per cent to Rs 465.9 crore in the second quarter.

Jubilant Organosys, an integrated pharmaceutical, custom research and manufacturing services company, said onTuesday its consolidated net profit jumped 131 per cent to Rs54.4 crore in the second quarter that ended in September over the same quarter of the previous year.

Net sales increased by 41.4 per cent to Rs 465.9 crore over the same period, Jubilant said in a statement.

The pharmaceutical and life science products (PLSP) business, which is the main growth driver, recorded a growth of 86.6 per cent in net sales to Rs 247.2 crore.

On a standalone basis, the company said it recorded a growth of 23.6 per cent in net sales to Rs 408.6 crore, with exports rising by 66.9 per cent to Rs 172.9 crore. The PLSP business with net sales of Rs 190.6 crore recorded a growth of 42.7 per cent during the quarter.

Earnings before interest, depreciation, taxes and amortisation (EBIDTA) for the quarter, on a consolidated basis, more than doubled to Rs 94.6 crore as compared to Rs 47.1 crore in the same quarter last year.

Consolidated EBIDTA without interest on unutilised foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCB) proceeds was Rs 83.4 crore, an increase of 82.5 per cent, resulting in an EBIDTA margin of 17.9 per cent as compared to 13.9 per cent in the corresponding quarter last year.

Profits before interest and taxes (PBIT) for the company stood at Rs 79.3 crore, registering a growth of 124.7 per cent.

The PLSP business recorded an increase of 97.8 per cent in PBIT to Rs 55 crore and its share in total PBIT was 72.1 per cent. The interest products business also witnessed an increase in PBIT by 114.6 per cent to Rs 17.6 crore from Rs 8.2 crore for the corresponding period of last year.
