N.A. Britto, a judge at the Panaji bench of the Bombay High Court, recused himself from hearing the bail application when the matter came before the single bench court on Friday.

On June 19, Britto recused himself from the anticipatory bail hearing on an application filed by Pacheco, who was absconding then.

Pacheco was arrested July 8 and is presently in police custody.

His 28-year-old alleged lover Nadia Torrado died in Chennai May 30, 15 days after consuming rat poison, allegedly after a spat with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator.
