The mood last Sunday in the Convent of Jesus and Mary, a school in Central Delhi, was Bollywood-inspired. The theme of its dance and fashion extravaganza was Kal Aaj aur Kal — a fusion of Bollywood’s past and present. Presented by the Old Students Association of the school to celebrate its Red Ribbon reunion, this was a nostalgic tour of Hindi cinema. Red Ribbon is an annual affair which brings the ex-CJMites back to their alma mater.

The show began with an act set in the 50s and ended with contemporary dance numbers. Students danced to Raj Kapoor’s Pyaar Hua Iqraar Hua as well as Shah Rukh Khan’s Kal Ho Naa Ho. The event started with the cutting of the red ribbon by Sister Janet, the principal of CJM, followed by a gift exchanging ceremony. Fashion designer Anjana Bhargav, an ex-CJMite, graced the show as the Chief Guest.

“Once you finish the school, it’s very difficult to be in touch with all your friends. So this reunion is an initiative by some old students to be in touch with their old pals,” says Samia Ejaz, President, Old Students Association. “We do this reunion every year with a special theme and the response has always been great,” she adds.
