Kalpana Chawla

Late Kalpana Chawla is among the twelve recipients of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman.

Late Kalpana Chawla, the Indian American astronaut who died along with six other crewmembers aboard Columbia space Shuttle in February 2003, is among the twelve recipients of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, 2004.

Kalpana had her early education in Haryana and Punjab and went to the US to study astronautical science, later to become a NASA scientist.
