Former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh has finally, albeit reluctantly, agreed to bid adieu to active politics.

Octogenarian Singh told HT on Wednesday that he has been sounded for the governorship of BJP-ruled Rajasthan and that he would accept the assignment that would cap his over four-decade long political career.
UP governor Ram Naik was given additional charge of Rajasthan as the term of present governor Margaret Alva ended on Tuesday.
“I will leave for Delhi in two days and meet party leaders and talk to Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje before taking over the responsibility,” he said on phone from Aligarh.
Asked if he was prepared for the switch to an apolitical post, the once powerful OBC leader said, “Now that I am going to hold an apolitical and constitutional position, I would have to assimilate myself to the new role.”
