Katiyar gets another term
Vice-CHANCELLOR of the Chattrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (CSJMU) Dr SS Katiyar has succeeded in getting another term as V-C.
Many other aspirants, vying for the coveted post, lost out to Dr Katiyar because of his connections in scientific fraternity and the political circles. Till late Monday night, the city was agog with rumours about divisional commissioner taking over the additional charge of V-C. But the picture was clear on Tuesday when Dr Katiyar got another term for three years.
A beaming Dr Katiyar told HT that he would continue to work towards academic standard of the university. “All-out efforts will be made to convert the CSJMU into an international university.” He said that no department of the university would suffer due to scarcity of teachers.
Referring to dental college of the CSJMU, Katiyar said, “Any discrepancy in managing the college will be removed, and it will be converted into a model college.” To a question as why the convocation could not be held during the past two years, Dr Katiyar said that the dignitary, whom he wanted to invite as a chief guest, was awfully busy.
But the convocation would soon be held, he added. Regarding his relations with Chancellor of State universities Dr Katiyar said, “Our relations have been very normal. Misleading information was circulated with regard to our relation.” He added that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh extended him full support over every issue and helped him achieve his vision of converting CSJMU into an outstanding university.
