The local residents resorted to brick batting and the drive could be carried out only after the intervention of the Bazaria police.

According to KESCo officials, when the team reached Sisamau behind Harsahai Degree College; the local residents resorted to brick batting. Senior officials of the team informed the Bazaria police and summoned force for carrying out the drive. Subsequently, the drive was carried out after the arrival of a large contingent of policemen from the Bazaria police station. During the drive, the team removed more than 600 ‘katia’ connections. The drive was also carried out on P Road.

In a similar operation in Afim Kothi area, the raid team removed more than 200 katia connections.

Meanwhile, members of the Kanpur Udyog Vyapar Mandal staged a demonstration outside the office of the general manager of KESCo.

The delegation had gone to lodge a complaint about irregular power supply in commercial areas of the city. However, when the GM did not arrive despite a wait of about half-an-hour, the members of the delegation started raising slogans against the power company and the GM.

The traders also expressed resentment against night rostering and prolonged power cuts.
