Khalistan ideologue Jagjit Singh Chouhan was arrested on Wednesday from Hoshiarpur district on the sedition charges, police said.
Chouhan, who returned to the country about six years ago after remaining in exile for about two decades, was arrested from his nursing home in Tanda in the district by a police team from Amritsar.
The Khalistan ideologue had allegedly made a statement that separate Sikh homeland would be a reality soon, police said, adding he had also hoisted 'Khalistan' flag at his residence in Hoshiarpur district.
Chouhan was already facing two different cases of sedition at Amritsar and Jalandhar respectively, police said.
A report from Hoshiarpur said that police had registered an FIR at Tanda police station against Chouhan for allegedly waging war against India, sedition charges and making false statements.
Harish Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Detective), Hoshiarpur said that Malkiat Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dasuya, had submitted a report about an interview of Chouhan, telecast on a private news channel on March 6.
In the interview, Chouhan had claimed that he was still continuing his struggle for the formation of `Khalistan' and exuded confidence of formation for Khalistan in 2007.
After taking opinion from legal advisor, police registered an FIR against Chouhan.
A flag of `Khalsa Raj Party', which was hoisting at the rooftop of Chouhan's house had been seized by police.
