Khan bags Vuitton account
Mumbai-based fashion designer Azeem Khan has embroidered bags for Louis Vuitton.
Don’t be surprised by Esha Doel’s new avatar in Dus, as the Mumbai-based fashion designer Azeem Khan has been working on it for one year now. An FIT, New York, graduate who went on to do his Master’s from the Parson’s School of Fashion, Khan is the third generation of the S. U. Zariwala family. “For more than 100 years my family has been known for its embroidery, so fashion came naturally to me,” says Khan.

Khan is now working on a real gold outfit embellished with precious and semi-precious stones for the Princess of UAE, and also designing, for the first time, a new line of embroidered bags for Louis Vuitton. “Louis Vuitton has never done any kind of embroidery for its bags but we have been doing some work for its clothes for the last three years,” says Khan. He has designed a beautiful LV logo with French knots for the bag and embellished the handle with stones.
“All I can think of is beautiful things, though this line (comprising 6,000 pieces) will be exclusively sold in USA and Europe,” says Khan. Interestingly, he has been working with Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent for the past many years, and has plans to start his own exclusive outlet in the Capital as soon as he find the right location.
However, Khan has been in the eye of a storm for some time now after he sued Rai Productions for making rip offs of his outfits for Sophia Choudry’s music video. “When it happened earlier with Meghna Naidu in Kalyon Ka Chaman, I ignored it but after I saw Sophia Choudry video I was aghast. So I have sued Rai Productions for Rs 25 lakh as all my clothes are registered. But all that is in the past, I want to do movies now. I took up Esha Doel’s outfits as a challenge and I hope the new look works wonders for her,” concludes Khan.
