After an award winning calendar for 2005, Kingfisher airline has picturised six winsome models for its New Year's almanac, described as India's own Pirelli.

Kingfisher 2006, to be launched on January 9, has the beautiful models in the backdrop of the picturesque Kangaroo Island in Australia, said Atul Kasbekar, one of India's top advertising photographers who shot the models.

The Kingfisher Premium Beer Swimsuit Special Calendar 2005 had won the seventh International Food and Beverage Creative Excellence Awards. That was also shot by Kasbekar.

He has reworked his magic. "This time we shot at Kangaroo Island," Kasbekar said.

"The first two calendars celebrated sun, sand and surf as we shot at beaches in Mauritius and Phuket (Thailand).

"This time Vijay Mallya (liquor baron and owner of the airline) decided to do something different - find another place which was not run-of-the-mill.

"Innovation and technology are at the service of artistic creativity," Kasbekar said, describing his work.

Kasbekar's taste, combined with an approach typical of "conceptually creative art", has produced a calendar that is vibrant in colour, abstract in design and magical to the eye.

Shot in an ambience that is realistic but unequivocally feminine in the shades of silhouette, it reveals and reflects the aesthetics behind the shutterbug's hand.

"Images, especially those which are photographic, communicate sensations," Kasbekar said.

"In shooting, there is always an instant which photographers can synthesise and reconstruct almost theatrically, in which a glance, a gesture, an expression can spark off reactions, desire, dreams, anything that you want to visualise."

Kasbekar added: "All the models are great but I always had this gut feeling about Deepika Padukone."
