Giving the ongoing elections a fashionable spin, Kiran Uttam Ghosh has designed a collection that transcends boundaries, fashion rules (if there were any) and political parties. Just when you think her 'India Shining' slogan is a BJP plant, she surprises you with Nehru topis and starch white creations.

It is difficult to categorise a line where dhotis turn into balloon skirts, gamchas become stoles and ciggie pants replace churidars, and the models wear lehengas and a computer mouse around their necks.

Teasing the audience with a now-you-see-flesh, now-you-don't collection, Ghosh used the colours black and gold with a vengeance. Itsy bitsy string bikinis with gorgeous ghagras suddenly shrunk and became asymmetrical skirts with backless tops. Then dropping the dark and dramatic look, Ghosh amused the audience with ivory and eggshell ankle-swirling jackets worn with slim fit pants and a red lagaan-style turban on the head.

Some of the more glamourous creations were a black halter flirty dress worn by Indrani with diamante detailing all over the bust. Another one was a white chiffon poncho style top with loads of silver sequins--very glam summer nights.

Creativity mixed with commercialism at its best.
