Speaking to reporters after meeting the governor, Poojary said he was personally in favour of adopting the 'Maharashtra model' of coalition in Karnataka and a proposal in this regard had been made to the party high command.

In Maharashtra, the Congress, as the bigger partner, is heading the coalition Government and has Left the Deputy Chief Minister's post to its junior partner, the NCP.

The Congress-JD(S) talks for the last few days have centred around this issue.

Replying to a query, Poojary said, "as a last resort, we may sit in the opposition".
