Labour room in SSL Hospital modernised
A completely renovated labour room complex, ART centre and endoscopic surgery training unit? equipped with the latest technology was inaugurated here in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Sir Sunder Lal Hospital, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Saturday.

A completely renovated labour room complex, ART centre and endoscopic surgery training unit’ equipped with the latest technology was inaugurated here in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Sir Sunder Lal Hospital, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Saturday.
Inaugurating the labour room complex, the Vice-Chancellor of BHU, Prof. Panjab Singh exhorted the faculty members of the department to be kind and to adopt a sympathetic attitude towards patients. “Change in management skills can make a lot of improvement in treatment of patients”, he said.
The Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Institute of Medical Sciences, Prof. LK Pandey said that the advanced facilities in the labour room would help in providing better services to the patients. The labour room complex consisted of a high dependency unit and central monitoring unit, he added.
Dr. Pandey informed that this labour room complex was modernised at a cost of Rs 60 lakh (funded by the University Grants Commission) and the facility of labour room would be available for serious patients at Rs 100 per day.
“ The intensive care unit can accommodate four serious patients who will be continuously monitored by medical experts through the central monitoring unit”, he said and added that the labour room was also attached to the central monitoring unit through which palpitation data of an infant would be stored on an optical disc. This optical disc would be stored for the next 20 years which would be helpful in future.
Dr. Pandey said that the department would also install an upgradation software through which medical experts of the department would be able consult their counterparts abroad.
On the occasion, renowned gynecologists Prof. P Tiwari, Dr. Shail Dubey and Dr. Amod Prakash were felicitated by the Vice Chancellor .
Others who were present on the occasion were Director of the Institute of Medical Science, Prof. Gajendra Singh, Dean of IMS, Prof. SK Bhattacharya, Medical Superintendent of SS Hospital, Prof. Churamani Gopal, Prof. Manjari Mattah and Prof. Sulekha Pandey.
