Lawyers hail Bhatia?s election
SEVERAL LAWYERS here have welcomed the election of former Advocate General of UP Virendra Bhatia as Rajya Sabha member. Lawyers have also thanked Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for getting an advocate elected to Rajya Sabha.

According to them, Bhatia was instrumental in getting several schemes for welfare of lawyers passed by the State Government.
Former UP Bar Council vice-chairman Vivek Mishra has termed the election of Bhatia as highly appreciable. He said Bhatia had done much for the welfare of lawyers during his tenure as Advocate-General of UP. Mishra said it was the ‘best deserving award’ given to Bhatia by the chief minister. He hoped that Bhatia’s effort for the welfare of lawyers will continue in future as well.
Expecting a very bright future for Bhatia in Parliament, Mishra said that Bhatia would prove himself to be a good Parliamentarian.
The national president of All-India Minorities Advocates’ Association Nizam Khan, while welcoming the election of Bhatia, has termed it as a victory of lawyers as according to him Bhatia was the most popular Advocate-General appointed so far. Khan said that by selecting Bhatia as his candidate for Rajya Sabha, Chief Minister has proved that he has high regard for the lawyers.
Member and former vice-chairman of UP Bar Council Arun Kumar Tripathi has said that election of Bhatia to Rajya Sabha has enhanced the honour of advocate class as a whole. “Bhatia, being former Advocate-General and president of Awadh Bar Association, has proved that he is everready for serving the advocate class,” Tripathi said.
Tripathi further said that Bhatia has always helped the lawyers’ community and would continue to do so in future. He said that election of Bhatia has given a message that more and more lawyers should join politics so as to make it cleaner.
Besides, a meeting of lawyers, held on the High Court premises, which was presided over by Harbansh Singh, former vice-president of High Court Bar Association, also welcomed the election of Bhatia as Rajya Sabha MP from UP.
Conducting the meeting former Treasurer of HCBA Shree Rang Pandey said that this government headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav has done maximum for the welfare of lawyers and former Advocate General Bhatia had played an important role in getting these welfare schemes passed and implemented. Former joint secretary of HCBA Anil Srivastava has also said that by being elected to Rajya Sabha, Bhatia will certainly take effective steps for the welfare of lawyers.
Others who welcomed the election of Bhatia as Rajya Sabha MP included state secretary of Samajwadi Adhivakta Sabha Vinay Pratap Singh Yadav, advocate Chandrajeet Yadav, Sudhindra Kumar and others.
