Licence case: Soha seeks personal hearing
The Gurgaon district administration will decide an application of actress Soha Ali Khan seeking a personal hearing in a gun licensing case, reports Sanjeev K. Ahuja.
Gurgaon administration on Tuesday said that Bollywood actor Soha Ali Khan, who was served a show-cause notice on March 21 for illegally getting an arms licence, has sought an opportunity for personal hearing on the issue. Khan had got a gun issued in her name when she was underage and had applied for its renewal later even when her father had used her gun to kill a black buck.
Gurgaon District Magistrate Rakesh Gupta said he had received a reply from Soha Ali Khan on April 7. The administration would announce its decision on her plea on Wednesday.
"We have received a reply from Soha Sultan (as was her name mentioned in the gun license) against the show-cause notice. She has sought an opportunity for personal hearing on the issue on which I would decide on Wednesday. She was given 15 days to respond to the notice," the DM said.
In the show-cause notice, the district administration had sought an explanation from the actor for hiding facts for renewal of the same gun licence. She has been asked to file a reply to the notice within a fortnight that expired on April 7.
The matter of illegal issuance of a gun licence to Khan came to fore when social activist Naresh Kadyan sought information from Gurgaon Administration on the issue using Right to Information Act. In its reply, the administration had disclosed that Soha Ali Khan was just 18 years and one month old when she was issued a licence for a gun by the Gurgaon Authority.
