Literacy rate up in Maoist stronghold of Dantewada
Dantewada, labelled as India's worst Maoist violence-hit district, has recorded a 20 per cent rise in literacy rate in the last nine years, the Chhattisgarh government said Monday claiming credit for the development.

Dantewada, labelled as India's worst Maoist violence-hit district, has recorded a 20 per cent rise in literacy rate in the last nine years, the Chhattisgarh government said Monday claiming credit for the development.
The literacy rate in Dantewada district was 24.56 per cent in 2001, but has gone up to 45.19 per cent with an increase of 20.63 percent, a statement by the government said.
It said the credit for this goes to the state government that worked out on several educational schemes and projects in the past decade.
Maoist rebels dominate the tribal-stronghold of Dantewada.
