Speaking to Touring Car Times, Liuzzi said that he would not mind racing in other series but still regarded F1 as the pinnacle of motorsport and was keen on a return.

The Italian has been retained as a third driver for the Spanish team, but due to the heavy restrictions on testing and running away from a Grand Prix weekend, he has been competing in the Superstars Series.

The series features production-based saloon cars with a minimum engine capacity of 3,800cc. Liuzzi started well in the opening two races of the 18 race series in Monza, Italy where he won a race and scored a podium finish in the other.
