Stevens studied the Delhi Police’s traffic plan for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. London is bidding to host the 2012 Olympics. London’s traffic is as bad as Delhi, if not worse.
Last year, the local administration was forced to slap a congestion tax on all vehicles that visit the city’s central business district.
On its part, the Delhi Police showed keen interest in modern methods of crime detection being employed by Scotland Yard, particularly for cyber crimes and computer forensics.
It also wanted to learn from London’s experience in community policing, which is still at a nascent stage in the Capital.
Stevens is on an unofficial visit to India, accompanied by his officers including Inspector Dil Bahara, a Sikh.
He met Delhi’s Commissioner of Police K.K. Paul and other senior officers at the Police Headquarters on Thursday.
