LTTE attacks SL army posts in Trincomalee

The LTTE fired mortar shells at Army FDL in two places on the Trincomalee coastline, writes PK Balachandran.

The LTTE on Sunday fired artillery and mortar shells at Sri Lankan Army Forward Defence Lines (FDL) in two places on the Trincomalee coastline.

LTTE gunboats first shelled army bunkers in Kokilai and then, its land units fired artillery and mortar shells at army FDLs in Kokkuthudai, both in the general area called Pulmoddai.

"The attacks started at about 5.30 pm. We are trying to ascertain the damage and the casualties. Two or three casualties are possible," said a spokesman at the Army Media unit.
