BJP leaders and their supporters seeking tickets entered into a brawl at Khargone district BJP office on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred between 2.30 and 3 pm when ticket distribution was going on for 33 wards and municipal council president. No report in this regard has been filed by anyone with the police.
It is to be mentioned that Saturday was the last date of submission of party B-form and nomination withdrawal for the forthcoming elections to be held on December 2.
However, as many as 25 local leaders, including BJP Mahila Morcha vice-president Chayya Joshi and Prabha Rathore, failed to get ticket and they filed their nominations as independents from different wards.
Brawl started when two groups of BJP workers, led by Shivram Rathore and Mohan Chauhan, said to be close to sitting MLA Balkrishna Patidar from Khargone, were enraged over the issue of distribution of tickets and exchanged blows.
Party workers took BJP district president Ranjeet Tandil to task. They alleged that party leaders overlooked local workers who had been working for the party from long and gave priority to the outsiders.
Quoting an example of one Congress deputy sarpanch Virendra Bhaoriya, who got BJP ticket from Ward No 6, party workers said how could person from other party get BJP ticket without accepting party membership.
"If BJP keeps overlooking local party workers, then party will lose its local base in the region and its situation will be similar to Congress," party workers said.
