Maha Marathon at Ulhasnagar

15,000 students form all over this township will participate in the Maha Marathon at Ulhasnagar, reports Kiran Sonawane.

It seems the marathon mania is gripping every nook and corner of the country and Ulhasnagar is not insulated.

First time a Maha Marathon is being organised in Ulhasnagar on Sunday where 15,000 students form all over this township will participate. With this Ulhasnagar famous as a major hub of duplicate products and its Japani Market would be known in the marathon circuit.

The New English High School and Jr College has organised the Maha Marathon event. Speaking to HT principal Geeta Gurnani said, "We will have five groups participating in the event. The students below 12 years will run for 2 kms, the age group between 12 and 15 years for 3 kms while the third group from 15 to 18 yrs will cover 5 kms."

There are two special groups — open category above 18 yrs for 21 kms and 10 kms race for women above the age group of 15 years.

She said entry registrations for the event have crossed the fifteen thousand mark and entry has been closed since the last two days. Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation , Police, Traffic Police, NGOs, Brahmakumaris, NSS, NCC units, Scouts and Guides, Medical Fraternity, Ambulance, MSEB and PWD have been roped in to make this event successful and trouble free.
