Major fire breaks out at Oberoi hotel

The fire broke out on the 13th and 14th floor inside the hotel following a large explosion and reported gunbattle between security agencies and terrorists who are holed up inside since Wednesday.

A major fire broke out on Thursday evening inside the Oberoi Trident hotel following a large explosion and reported gunbattle between security agencies and terrorists who are holed up inside since Wednesday evening.

The fire broke out on the 13th and 14th floor inside the hotel, which has been under terrorist siege for more than 18 hours. Commandos of National Security Guards and the Army are said to be exchanging heavy gunfire with the terrorists, who could be more than 10 in number.

The infernos at the hotel could be seen from a distance.

Flames were earlier seen coming out of the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel, which is also under terrorists' control. It's been more than 18 hours and security agencies are still battling with the terrorists.
