Fashioning her newly opened store Nail Art at the Basant Lok Complex after the Nail Bars in New York, VLCC’s Vandana Luthra believes that it will be just what working women who lead a jet-setting lifestyle need. Her credo: Besides a great face, beautiful hands add to a woman’s charm.
Subscribing to this philosophy, the model brigade headed by Nethra Raghuraman, with Suchitra Pillai, Anupama Verma and Ananya Dutt decided to pamper their nails. “We will soon open a day spa offering massage therapies for women who want to chill after a hard day’s work. But nail art is the first in our efforts to offer more than just weight loss programmes,” says Luthra.
While model-turned-actress Anupama Verma found the nail art studio’s decor minimalist and soothing it is her routine gymming that often leaves her nails chipped. “Great nails speak volumes on how well-groomed you are and enhance your femininity. Like most women judge a man by his shoes and watch, most women with beautiful hands and feet score more points,” says Verma.
While dusky model Nethra Raghuraman and Ananya Dutt like to go in for nail decoration and calcium treatments to strengthen nails, designer Nisha Jamwal believes great hands are a woman’s signatures. “In an age where all of us are rushing against time, a manicure can put you at ease,” elaborates Jamwal.
Although the Nail Art Studio offers paraffin pedicures, salt scrub manicures; X press manicures and pedicures for those in a hurry, most of these models don’t find time to go in for a manicure more than twice a month. Still, they have their own nail polish preferences.
While Nethra always opts for silver and white; Suchitra likes deep reds; Ananya’s choice remains blood red and Anupama loves soft pinks. “The colour of the nail should match your overall make up and most importantly, your lipstick,” says Verma.
