A Beijing man was awarded almost 1,000 dollars in compensation on Friday after he was bitten by a dog and then by the dog's owner, state media said.

The victim, surnamed Huo, was bitten on the left leg by the dog and then became embroiled in an argument with the dog's owner, the official Xinhua news agency said.
During the fight that followed the dog's owner, surnamed Liu, bit Huo's left cheek leaving a two-centimetre (0.7-inch) gash, a municipal court in Beijing heard.
The court ordered liu to pay 7,500 yuan (937.5 dollars) in compensation for the November 2004 incident.
