The bill, passed on late Monday night, pertained to protecting MLAs holding offices of profit.

The house had passed the bill in May last week and sent it to Governor SS Sidhu for assent.

However, the Governor had returned the bill for re-discussion as the bill "lacked clarity and specifics" regarding the definition on MLAs holding offices of profit.

The Assembly re-discussed the bill and passed it again on late Monday night in its original form. The bill would be sent to the governor for his assent, official sources said.
