According to her, the police made her wait for hours to file an FIR and even made derogatory remarks against her cousin.

A case was finally registered and the accused was arrested on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday night at around 9.45pm when the victim was returning home along with her cousin brother.

The victim works as a sales girl at DLF City Centre Mall on MG Road and lives in a rented apartment in Chakkarpur village.

According to the girl, as soon as she reached outside her apartment, the power went off. Suddenly a man, later identified as Pradeep Kumar from the same locality, grabbed her.

“I fell on the ground and he groped me again. When I tried to hit him, he picked up a brick and tried to hit me. I managed to block his blows with my arms. I bruised my arms, knees and fingers,” the girl told HT.

“When we called the police, a sub-inspector (SI) and a constable came from the control room at 11.30pm. Though they caught the accused, they didn’t file an FIR. Instead, they let him go after slapping him a few times,” she added.

The police, however, refuted these claims.
