“He (Singh) lacks the basic sensitivity. He loses sleep over suffering of the kin of Glasgow terror attack suspects but is unmoved by the tears of the kin of those killed in 26/11 attack,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Jawadekar said in Mumbai.

“The Prime Minister’s bureaucratic sensitivity is exposed through this,” he said.

“He is in office but not in power. The country has never seen such a weak prime minister. He is not even ready to face the 115 crore people of the country through open debate (with Advani),” he said.

Continuing their verbal barbs in the run-up to the elections, Singh on Tuesday charged that the BJP’s “Iron Man” had “melted” during the Kandahar hijack and was “weeping in a corner” when Babri Masjid was destroyed by hoodlums.

Congress President Sonia Gandi and General Secretary Rahul Gandhi also targeted Advani, questioning his credentials as a strong leader.

“Singh, Sonia Gandhi and children Rahul and Priyanka have launched a tirade against Advani as they see defeat for Congress looming large on the horizon,” Jawadekar said.

“Sonia’s statement that communalism is more dangerous than terrorism can be construed as covert backing of terrorism,” he said.
