IT WAS big fun for cricket fans on Sunday. They got a chance to feel like champions and have a close look at the replica of the upcoming Champions Trophy (Mini World Cup) scheduled to be held in India this October-November. During the display on Sunday, the cricket enthusiasts were quizzed about the game and every quiz winner was allowed to play virtual cricket to score 15 runs. “The response was good as far as the Lucknowites are concerned,” said a representative of the event management group. “I am not an authorised person to tell you the details but I am an avid cricket lover. I am happy that I got myself photographed with the replica,” said young Manu Agarwal. The event, sponsored by a leading private cellular company, got the trophy displayed at the Saharaganj here. Obviously, just to seek good response from the Lucknowites, who really responded to the call in the same spirit.
After staging a fine show at Chandigarh last evening, the replica of the Trophy was on display in the State Capital on Sunday. From here it will move to Hyderabad on Monday, before similar shows at Chennai and Kochi.
As per the plan the cellular company is picking up one winner from every city every week. All the five winners will get a chance to see Champions Trophy matches live, besides winning many a thing from the company.
