The rebels carried out the abduction in Arabore, 540 km south of capital Raipur, on Saturday and the incident was confirmed on Monday.

"Police have been compiling details of the abduction but the preliminary report suggests that the hostages, including three women, have been taken to a thick forested stretch somewhere bordering Andhra Pradesh," a senior police official said.
