Jail van blown up
A head constable was killed in a powerful landmine blast by Maoists at Kondagaon about 250 km south of Raipur on Saturday. Targeting a jail van, the blast injured seven police personnel and 19 inmates.

Injured air-lifted
The conditions of four jail personnel and three prisoners were stated to be critical. The seriously injured were air-lifted to Raipur for urgent medical treatment. The vehicle was tossed up in the air under the impact of the explosion.

Protest week

Attack comes at a time when Maoists have called for a protest week in Bastar region. They are against the Green Hunt operation, which trains army in Bastar. They are also demanding withdrawal of paramilitary forces.
