Given the number of cricketing records he holds, it is no wonder the vice-captain has earned the name "Guinness".

The most successful wicket-keeper in South African history has reached the double of 1,000 runs and 100 dismissals, was the fastest in the world to 100 ODI catches (in his 65th match) and the quickest to 150 Test dismissals (38 Tests).

His rise has been rapid, having burst onto the scene at the age of 20 as a stand-in for the injured Dave Richardson during the second Test against Pakistan in 1997/98.

Not only has he made the position behind the stumps his own, Boucher has proved more than an able deputy in Shaun Pollock's absence, showing impressive leadership qualities when called on.

In the modern trend of 'keepers, his batting is solid too.

The athletic and hard-working player can often be relied upon to add late runs, and occasionally they can be match-clinching ones.
