The volume flowing through the Bengpu sluice gate rose to 7,660 cubic meters per second at 8:00 AM yesterday, the fourth largest since 1949, the headquarters said adding, the river's three flood discharge gates are now all open to expel the excess water.

Consistent rains since June 21 in the Huihe river valley is being sighted as the main reason for the current flood.
