SEVA BHARTI, an offshoot of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), today launched an orphanage - ‘Matru Chhaya’ - in the City. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organisation general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki inaugurated the orphanage, located at Panchkuyian, at a function here today.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was to inaugurate the Seva Bharti’s first such orphanage in the City today, but due to his preoccupation with other important work in the State capital, he could not make it to the City.

Others who were present at the function included State Minister for Women and Child Development Kusum Mehdele, Aggarwal Group Chairman Vinod Aggarwal, RSS leader Makkan Singh, Seva Bharti City president Radheshyam Sharma, Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma, BJP Mahila Morcha State president Anju Makhija and local BJP leaders like Chandu Makhija and MLA Laxman Singh Gaud.

An RSS spokesman said that Matru Chhaya in Indore is the third such orphanage run by the RSS in the State, after Bhopal and Ujjain. Currently located at Panchkuyian, the orphanage will be shifted to a new centrally-located area like AB Road or Ring Road after some time.

Only children will be admitted to the orphanage, which will be run on rented premises initially. There are 10-12 rooms in the orphanage, the spokesman said. Expenses for the orphanage would be met through donations from the public, he added.
