A two-day workshop to impart training to lawyers in mediation was also started from today. Giving this information, the joint secretary of the Organising Committee of Mediation and Conciliation Centre Vivek Prasad Mathur, said that in the workshop, the trained mediators would impart the training.
Mathur further said that that the workshop was being organised by the committee of the Mediation Centre comprising some High Court judges including
Justice Sunil Ambwani, Justice Vineet Saran, Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice Dilip Gupta. The lawyers who are associated with the committee are Navin Sinha, Shashi Kant Gupta, Vivek Prasad Mathur and YK Singh.
Inaugurating the centre, Justice Katju said, “The present trend in the judicial system was to get the interim order.”
Besides, several other factors gave rise to huge delay in disposal of cases, he added.
Therefore, it was high time that the people should go for mediation to get their disputes resolved at the earliest, he said.
He narrated as to how the system of mediation had worked tremendously in Madras and Delhi.
While conducting the programme, Justice Ambwani emphasised that of rule of ethics, support of Bench and Bar, commitment to cause were necessary for the success of the system of Mediation.
Justice Ambwani narrated his experience at Uttaranchal, where panchayat decided several issues through mediation.
Proposing the vote of thanks, senior advocate Navin Sinha, who was
the organising secretary, said speedy justice was necessary for peace in the society.
