Mehar attack: Why cops love to play a delay game

EVEN AS the main accused in the Mehar attack have decided to surrender before court, the cops are still waiting for a tip-off from the informers! EVEN AS the main accused in the Mehar attack have decided to surrender before court, the cops are still waiting for a tip-off from the informers!

In the name of searching for the miscreants, the cops are visiting those places, which had been left by the miscreants several months back. The cops, however, have sent two youths to jail in the case so far even though they were not present at the scene of crime.

Sources claim the accused have contacted their lawyer to make arrangements for their surrender in the court soon. The cops too were reportedly interested in getting the accused sent behind bars anyhow, sources add. Sachin Pahadi, the main accused who had shot at Mehar Bhargava, also known as Abhay and Ranjit, had stayed for more than a week in Lucknow after the incident. Had the cops made sincere efforts to nab him, he would have been behind bars by now.

Similarly, Sachin’s accomplice Amit Singh too was provided a hideout by a KD Singh’s aide in Talkatora area.

The cops did not initiate any effort to conduct raid soon after a don-turned MLA intervened and used his influence to keep the police away off the scent.

Sachin’s boss KD Singh too avoided coming to his Dilip Pur Tower flat here after the incident. The cops though had tried to seek KD’s help in tracing the absconding accused, the gangster ignored the same.

The cops said Sachin had been jailed in a murder case from Manak Nagar Police Station area earlier and cases were also pending against him at Krishna Nagar and other police stations in the city.

Sachin was accomplice of dreaded criminal Vijay Menon who was killed in a police encounter at a restaurant on Faizabad Road two years back.

Even after more than a week, the cops have yet to collect details about the criminal cases pending against Sachin in Uttaranchal where he belongs.

The cops had yet to trace the address of Sachin’s native place in Uttaranchal. Besides, the police also have no details of Amit Singh’s whereabouts.
