Minutes earlier, she and Keiji were making love with an intensity they would not have believed possible. They had travelled to New Zealand to marry, away from the disapproving mother of Keiji.
A journey where they began to navigate the uncharted waters of their sexual relationship. After Keiji’s death, Sayo returns to Tokyo to accompany his body. Determined to mourn with the family of her late husband, she moves to Keiji’s mother’s home, but is rejected….

Director: Writer and director Niki Caro is well known in New Zealand for the films she has shot for television. Her short film Sure the Rise was selected for Cannes in 1994. Since then, she has directed another short feature, Footage, presented at Venice in 1996. Her latest film is Whale Rider (2002).
