A militant was killed by security forces in a shootout in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said in Jammu.

A militant was killed by security forces in a shootout in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, a defence spokesman said in Jammu.

On a tip off, troops of the Rashtriya Rifles launched an operation in Kalihand area of the district and gunned down the militant at around 1635 hours, he said.

One self-loading rifle was recovered from the slain militant, he said, adding the identity of the militant is being ascertained.
