A 14-year old girl was allegedly gang-raped and tied to a mobile phone here, the police said on Thursday.

She also tried to commit suicide by consuming poison, the police added. The girl has been admitted to GBP Hospital here on Wednesday night and is under observation, a police official said.

Though case has been lodged at Sidhai Police Station, the duo gang-rape accused youths are still absconding, a police official said on Thursday. The suspects identified as Sudhir Debbarma, 24, and Edeng Debbarma, 25, are absconding. “Search is on to trace the duo who are absconding right after the incident. We have passed the information about them to neighboring areas,” the official said.

The girl went to her relative’s house at Chachubazar in West Tripura district. While she was returning home on January 26 night, she was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped and tied to a mobile tower. Later, she was released.
