It’s that time of year when witches, wizards, devils, vampires and trolls creep out of the woodwork and take over the city. This year too, city pubs and restaurants are hosting Halloween themed parties, while retail stores are offering partygoers a wide variety of creepy costumes and accessories to choose from.

“Earlier, Halloween was popular only with foreigners, but now Indians have also caught on,” says Raju Punjabi, owner of Sparkles, Bandra (W). He adds, “The base price of a costume can start from Rs 990 onwards. Although sometimes, people just buy accessories, such as a set of vampire teeth or long nails for Rs 30 and team it up with a black outfit.”

According to Nicole Alvares, manager of Party Hunterz, Bandra (W), Superman, Spider-Man, Batgirl and Robin costumes are the rage this season. She says, “Apart from costumes of witches and vampires, we have many unique props like devil horns, bulbs and bones that look like they are going through your head. These can be mixed and matched, which is why they are very popular during Halloween.”
