Take a break from cheering ‘Cesc’ Fabregas and let your hair down Latino style today. On the occasion of the second Spanish language day, the Spanish cultural centre of Delhi is organising a day-long festival on June 19.
Take a break from cheering ‘Cesc’ Fabregas and let your hair down Latino style today. On the occasion of the second Spanish language day, the Spanish cultural centre of Delhi is organising a day-long festival on June 19. Take the kids along — there’s a magic show at noon, a session of piñata — the Spanish version of the Indian ‘khoi-bag’ and for the grown-ups, there are workshops on dances such as flamenco, salsa, bachata, merengue, and all day film screening, food and cocktail sampling of Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela and even a live cooking class from Peru.

Òscar Pujol Riembau, director of the Instituto Cervantes Nueva Delhi, says the idea of the fiesta is to explore cultural connections between India and Spain — “Flamenco, for example, is influenced by Indian dance forms like kathak. When the gypsies went from India to Europe, they spoke a mix of Spanish and Indian languages.”
When: June 19, 11 am to 9 pm Where: Instituto Cervantes de Nueva, 48 Hanuman Road
