Rooftop water harvesting

This system is very common in Mizoram. Introduced by the British, the practice has caught on in a big way.

Despite having high rainfall, most of it is lost because of low water retention of its soil caused by soil erosion and deforestation. Pipes are attached to the sides of a slopping roof. This water is taken down to a tank.
