DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION and the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) could soon be heading towards a discord thanks to the district administration unilaterally taking a decision to park 45 buses on the Deemed University campus. These buses are to be deployed for picking up the would-be beneficiaries of Kanya Vidyadhan scheme from their residences and ferrying them to the main venue of the cheque distribution programme scheduled to be held on November 17 at the KP Inter College.

These buses are to be deployed for picking up the would-be beneficiaries of Kanya Vidyadhan scheme from their residences and ferrying them to the main venue of the cheque distribution programme scheduled to be held on November 17 at the KP Inter College.
It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav will be arriving in the city to distribute the cheques to the beneficiaries on the D-day.
In this regard a meeting of district administration was held recently in which the Registrar of MNNIT, RP Tiwari, represented the institute.
The Registrar is said to have explained the problems that may emerge owing to stationing of the buses and gathering of such large congregation of outsiders in the MNNIT premises.
District Statistical Officer Hemant Kumar, who has been made in-charge of operation, is believed to have rejected the plea of the MNNIT administration and asked the Registrar to ensure the proper stationing of the buses.
Reacting to the alleged pressure tactics of district administration, MNNIT Director Prof Arun Baran Samaddar said that Registrar conveyed the feeling of MNNIT administration and informed the officials concerned that the already scheduled practical examinations could be affected due to the stationing of parking of the vehicles.
Prof Samaddar said that since the institute is one of the top NITs of the country under the Ministry of HRD and is of national importance, the district administration should have shown the courtesy to at least consult and intimate him and other senior officials before taking such a decision.
Prof Samaddar said that decision in itself is a surprising one as buses could be parked and stationed at open space available at Mela area near Bairahna. Prof Samaddar added that the district administration officials have not yet informed the Institute about the security arrangements in the premises during stationing of buses.
It is pertinent to mention that MNNIT had received a call a few months back threatening a sabotage in the premises which was duly reported by the Media at the time and had also led to tightening of security arrangements in the MNNIT premises.
