‘Harry Potter’ author JK Rowling’s remarks about models being ‘empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones’ certainly hasn’t gone down well with them, for American model Megan McGill has slammed Rowling for being ‘bitter’ and ‘insensitive’.
McGill said that she had been shocked when she read Rowling’s interview, for she had never expected one of the world’s most beloved children’s authors to be so bitter or to make such insensitive remarks.
“You are the most loved woman by every child in the world, how can you be so bitter? She has undoubtedly made a huge impact on children’s lives. I admire her ability to make kids excited to read.
She has contributed enormously to our community and holds a captive audience. But that is why I am so appalled by her insensitive remarks. Models are also just trying to do the best they can,” the Telegraph quoted her, as saying.
McGill, who holds a degree in neuroscience, said that while most models didn’t hold degrees, they were in no way ‘vapid or emaciated’, and neither did they like to be called ‘dumb’.
“Models do actually read newspapers, and they don’t like being called dumb. Maybe most models don’t have degrees, but the majority are multi-lingual, and I don’t know anyone I would describe as vapid or emaciated,” she added.
